Calace spielte Mandoline und Liuto Cantablile. Seine Tochter Maria Calace spielte ebenfalls hervorragend Mandoline und trat h\u00e4ufig mit ihrem Vater zusammen auf. Zahlreiche Aufnahmen von Raffaele und Maria Calace sind erhalten, einige davon sind auch bei youtube zu finden. Eine Doppel-CD mit 34 Aufnahmen wurde in Japan ver\u00f6ffentlicht. Calaces Kompositionen geh\u00f6ren bis heute zum Standardrepertoir f\u00fcr Mandoline. Wie diese Werke vor 100 Jahren gespielt wurden kann man an Hand der Originalaufnahmen h\u00f6ren. Raffaele Calace ist auch der Verfasser von wichtigen Lehrwerken f\u00fcr die Mandoline und das Liuto. Durch seine Reisen nach Japan hat er auch dazu mitgewirkt, dass die Mandoline in Japan zu einem weitverbreiteten und vielgespielten Instrument
