Seit er den Namen &#8222;Lloay Loar&#8220; in der Mandoline von Bill Monroe gesehen hat war er von diesen Instrumenten fasziniert. Er kennt fast jede Mandoline die von Lloay Loar signiert wurde und erforscht die Geschichte dieser Instrumente. Alles was er gefunden hat ver\u00f6ffentlicht er in seinen Artikeln \u00fcber die &#8222;Breaking News&#8220; von 1922 und 1923 &#8211; f\u00fcr Fans der alten Gibson Mandolinen eine spannende Lekt\u00fcre. Seit vielen Jahren organisiert Tony Williamson auch das &#8222;Mando Mania&#8220; beim Merlefest &#8211; 5 der besten Mandolinisten spielen etwa eine Stunde lang was ihnen Spass macht. Dabei kann man sehr sch\u00f6n die Spielweise verschiedener Mandolinenspieler vergleichen. Bei youtube findet man viele Videos in denen Tony Williamson die alten Mandolinen vorstellt. Tony Williamson spielt mit seiner Tony Williamson Band und der Williamson Brothers Bluegrass Band.
