Mit 16 Jahren begann er mit seinem Bruder als Duo &#8222;The Wakefield Brothers&#8220; aufzutreten, danach spielter er mit Red Allen zusammen. Seine Komposition &#8222;New Camptown Races&#8220; hat sich als Bluegrass-Klassiker etabliert. Wakefield hat sich auch immer f\u00fcr andere Musik als Bluegrass interessiert. So hat er auch St\u00fccke von Beethoven und Bach gespielt, eigene klassische Solost\u00fccke komponiert oder den griechischen Sirtaki in seine Bluegrassmusik integriert. Wenn Frank Wakefield auf der B\u00fchne steht sieht man, dass ihm das Mandolinespielen Spass macht. In seinem youtube Kanal hat er viele Aufnahmen verf\u00fcgbar gemacht, und auch in den letzten Jahren immer wieder St\u00fccke alleine oder mit befreundeten Musikern
