…my father passed away due to his illness. I was depressed at the time, I have been unable to overcome the pain of losing a loved one. After almost 3 years of my father’s passing, I told myself that I can’t keep going like that, so I wanted to hold a concert to commemorate my father. At that time, I had not yet any contact with the mandolin, I am a professional musician in Chinese traditional plucking instrument that called “Liuqin”, so I wanted to organize a concert with a brand new style of music. I found several pieces of mandolin, they can be played by Liuqin too, during the process, I flew to Japan and bought so many music scores and the CDs about the mandolin. Besides that, I bought the album of Mr. Tadashi Aoyama and returned to Taiwan. I felt so touched, with a sense of emotional healing, and also found it incredible after listening to his album. Both of them, Liuqin and the mandolin are high-pitched musical instruments, but the mandolin’s timbre is soft and warm. I started getting interested in this wonderful musical instrument, so I decided to fly to Japan again and started my journey of learning the mandolin with Mr. Tadashi Aoyama.
…mein Vater an seiner Krankheit verstorben ist. Ich war damals deprimiert, ich war nicht in der Lage, den Schmerz zu überwinden, einen geliebten Menschen zu verlieren. Nach fast 3 Jahren nach dem Tod meines Vaters sagte ich mir, dass ich so nicht weitermachen kann, also wollte ich ein Konzert zum Gedenken an meinen Vater veranstalten. Zu dieser Zeit hatte ich noch keinen Kontakt mit der Mandoline, ich bin ein professioneller Musiker auf einem traditionellen chinesischen Zupfinstrument namens „Liuqin“, also wollte ich ein Konzert mit einem brandneuen Musikstil organisieren. Ich habe mehrere Mandolinenstücke gefunden, sie können auch von Liuqin gespielt werden, während des Prozesses bin ich nach Japan geflogen und habe so viele Musikpartituren und die CDs über die Mandoline gekauft. Außerdem kaufte ich das Album von Herrn Tadashi Aoyama und kehrte nach Taiwan zurück. Ich fühlte mich so berührt, mit einem Gefühl der emotionalen Heilung, und fand es auch unglaublich, nachdem ich sein Album gehört hatte. Beide, Liuqin und die Mandoline, sind hohe Musikinstrumente, aber das Timbre der Mandoline ist weich und warm. Ich fing an, mich für dieses wunderbare Musikinstrument zu interessieren, also beschloss ich, wieder nach Japan zu fliegen und begann meine Reise, bei Herrn Tadashi Aoyama Mandoline zu lernen.

The mandolin is a fascinating instrument that can be played in any style. Its timbre is very healing, as if a beam of light shines in the darkness. To me, its sound is like an angel who transports me to another realm.
Die Mandoline ist ein faszinierendes Instrument, das in allen Stilrichtungen gespielt werden kann. Sein Timbre ist sehr heilend, als ob ein Lichtstrahl in der Dunkelheit scheint. Sein Klang ist für mich wie ein Engel, der mich in eine andere Welt entführt.

The timbre which played by Mr. Tadashi Aoyama attracted me, and it guided my life to another position from the miserable of losing my loved one.

Wie kann man Interesse für die Mandoline bei Kindern wecken?
Let the children play some music that sounds familiar to them, introduce the instrument in a lively way so we can spark children’s interest to play the mandolin. I want to share with you about one of my student who studies the mandolin since he was in the kindergarten, he performs with us often on the stage, too. Now, he is a student who is studying in the university.

In 2007, I founded “Taipei Mandolin Ensemble”, and the name changed to “Taiwan Mandolin Ensemble” in 2017.

I love the music by Eduardo Mezzacapo – “Andante Et Polonaise Raffaele”. Besides that, several pieces by Raffaele Calace are my favourite too, such as “Notturno-Cielo Stellato”.

I never took part in any mandolin competition due to the late start of learning, but I have participated in the competition of Liuqin, I’m awarded to the first prize in the National Student Competition of Music (Taiwan), in the categories of Youth, Teenage and Adult.
Aufgrund des späten Lernbeginns habe ich nie an einem Mandolinenwettbewerb teilgenommen, aber ich habe am Wettbewerb von Liuqin teilgenommen, ich wurde mit dem ersten Preis beim National Student Competition of Music (Taiwan) in den Kategorien Jugend ausgezeichnet , Jugendliche und Erwachsene.
